Restored with great attention to detail, La Mallorquina remains straightforward and simple. The first step into the house leads past the fountain at the gate across the tarmac forecourt, which offers space for four cars and is ideal for playing. Turn left to reach the guest house at ground level, largely barrier-free; turn right into the two-storey main building; or across the table tennis terrace into the green, north-facing outdoor living room. Straight lines also dominate the garden and pool area, which are secluded and unobstructed, allowing views of the mighty Tramuntana massif in the distance to really come into their own. Why climb high peaks when you can enjoy this view from the covered terrace (and from the roof anyway)? If you break out in a sweat just looking at it, the pool promises welcome refreshment - after a few 12-metre laps, you'll be ready for the next (imaginary) climb. Actually, this place invites you to celebrate: There is room for up to 180 people in and around the house.
Looking at the cosy interiors, you almost wish you could spend a chilly evening or a rainy day relaxing in an armchair in front of the fireplace, enjoying a cup of tea and reading a good book. RELAX is the first word that comes to mind when you think of the 4 cosy bedrooms (one with twin beds), which also feature natural stone walls; the ground floor bedroom is the only one without an en-suite bathroom, but the stunning walk-in wardrobe more than makes up for this. And all guests are spoilt with state-of-the-art bathroom facilities, with either a shower or corner bath. The guest house, with its Art Nouveau painted front door, is positively gorgeous; the living area with fireplace and open-plan kitchen is bright and stylish, while both double bedrooms and the shared bathroom are in the style of the main building. And you can easily set up a small private terrace in front of the house with sun loungers.
You can drift from town to town and playa to playa while shopping and cruising: The (audible) Ma-4021 runs past the villa and charts your course. After you have explored Manacor's historic city centre, the pedestrian zone and the lively farmers' market, you can hop on a bus or train to Palma. Or you can anchor on the beaches and harbours between Portocristo and Cala Ratjada. On the way to Son Carrió and San Lorenzo, rural Mallorca offers both cyclists and wine lovers a number of worthwhile excursion destinations; or how about a stroll through nearby Artà (20 km away) and enjoy the beauty from the terrace of a café or two, perhaps it will turn out to be another real La Mallorquina close to town and family-friendly with a separate flat for four people: La Mallorquina is a long-established Mallorcan flat that stands out for its clean lines, panoramic views of the Tramuntana and comfortable interiors. At just 5 km away, Manacor is the ideal place to do your weekly shopping, sightseeing or enjoy a restaurant or two; tranquil towns such as Son Carrió or San Lorenzo offer fresh produce at the farmers' markets.
